This was my fourth Mission of Mercy event and definetly the most meaningful.   Although attendance seemed lighter the individual needs seemed greater.   I'm so proud of the Michigan dental community who managed to treat over 900 patients in just two days!  Nancy Maier of the Michigan Dental Association Foundation reported some preliminary results and i'm always amazed at what can be accomplished.   Here are some highlights:  900+ patients treated, 900 cleanings, 1,123 restoritive procedures, 57 endo treatments and 832 oral surgery procedures.   I work the outside line every year and get to know the patients who wait for hours to get in and my most rewarding moment is when the proths department comes looking for people missing front teeth and they exit the building later that day beaming with a new smile.   Scott Ward and the prosthodontic team produced new smiles for 60+ patients.
